HISTORIC FORTS

Fort St. Catherine (St. George)

Protecting St. George’s northern coast, the site is the position of Bermuda’s first fort dating back to 1612. The site was of continued strategic importance and the fortification was developed into its current structure in the late 1800s. Open Daily | 10:00am-4:00pm, Tel: (441) 297-1920

Fort Hamilton (City of Hamilton)

PARKS & GARDENS

The Bermuda Botanical Gardens

35-acre landscaped park located in the heart of Bermuda with various flowers, shrubs, trees & plantations including a vast collection of subtropical fruit trees, hibiscus, an aviary and Banyan trees. At the heart of the gardens is Camden House, the official residence of Bermuda’s Premiere and is an impressive colonial building built in the early 1700s with painted shutters and fretwork. Spittal Pond Nature Reserve

The largest and the most premium nature reserve and national park of the island. It spreads over some 64-acres of land area and includes walking trails along the south shore coast line. Open Daily (Smith’s Parish).

Blue Hole Park & Walsingham Nature Reserve

12 acres of land area with trails through the dense woodland area lead to different caves & grottos with great stalactite formations and natural pools. One of the highlights is the mangrove pond. It’s a pool with crystal clear deep blue water and lots of fishes in it. Also known as the Tom Moore’s Jungle because this is where the Irish poet Thomas Moore wrote some of his poetic verses under a famous calabash tree in 1844. Open Daily (Hamilton Parish)
